Heywood Wakefield Vanity

A Vintage Heywood Wakefield vanity. A nice collector furniture piece & brand!
There was some water damage on one side’s bottom, and it was missing the glass and mirrors when I got it. I didn’t know anything about glass or mirrors – so this sat in my garage for a while.

I started with what I knew… repairing the water damaged area with wood putty, wood glue and plenty of sanding. The rest of the wood was in great shape, just needed some good sanding & cleaning to get the old finish off. I applied a natural wood stain to remain as true to the original coloring as possible.
I worked with a glass blower friend of mine to custom cut out the glass top, as well as the bottom mirror section. This particular vanity had a large mirror on top, but because I didn’t have a way to build a new back (or make detailed mirror cuts), I didn’t add the back mirror.
Once it was completed, it looked great. It still has a retro look and can be very useful without the back mirror.
