Belwood Ice Boks

Belwood Ice Boks

This isn’t an actual ice box – as in one that would serve as a refrigerator to keep your non-gmo, gluten free wheat beer cool. It’s a replica – but still a very unique piece of furniture with a lot of unique characteristics. This particular replica is called Belwood Ice Boks…. and it’s definitely seen better days.

A quick before and after.

There was some wood splitting on the top, and the bottom particle board feet were starting to fall apart – but otherwise was in fine condition. The hardware was in great shape, and that gave the entire thing it’s uniqueness.

In spite of the dreaded particle board falling apart… repairs went fast & easy. I added some side support boards on both sides of the particle board feet, as well as glued up the edges of the particle board to stop the slow death. I also added some additional internal support boards to give the whole thing some extra strength – they wouldn’t be seen, but they added a lot of support.

Painted it white, with a grey top so that it matches the rest of the decor around the house. Some light distressing and some freshly painted hardware and we’re back in action.

I was very pleased with how the Belwood Ice Boks plate turned out. The silver lettering and the hammered black background was a great contrast.
