Retro End Tables & Coffee Table

Retro End Tables & Coffee Table

One of my first restoration projects in a long, long, long time. I got a couple retro looking end tables, and later found a coffee table to match.

The top of one of the end tables was very warped and curved. My solution was to cut the top right where the curve was causing the wood to split. I removed less than a 1/4″ of width to the top portion of the table, and wasn’t noticable.
All other repairs were just sanding, sanding and sanding. I HATED sanding these curved legs – and because I was going to apply wood stain instead of using a paint – I had to remove all the old finish and leave a pretty smooth surface. I got close enough. 🙂

I used a dark walnut stain for all three pieces, finishing them with a few coats of polyurethane. New hardware made these pieces look better than new!
